Dance and style. Ethnography of Carnival in Pomata (town), Puno Pomata, Chucuito, Puno, February 2013 - March 2017

Abstract

The present research project is oriented towards an ethnographic study of the Carnival dance of the town of Pomata, south of Puno, in the province of Chucuito. We will describe the Carnival of the “mistis or qaras” as socially are differentiated those who live in the town in relation to the people who live in the countryside. Our priority is the description would dance under the elements of body, space, rhythm and movement, looking for its relation with the meaning of Carnival for the dancers and for the population, logically enriched with the musical, vocal, ludic, ritual and participation manifestations social within the festive process of the Carnival. We use the descriptive method and ethnographic research.
